Throughout its history humanity has always adhered to various religions and faiths. Ancient books say that Abraham's father, Terach, had been an idolater. Abraham is regarded the first Kabbalist who received the knowledge of the Upper World, i.e., about the indivisible force, the unique and all-encompassing Creator, who created the universe and rules over it. Prior to that time, as the Bible recounts, people believed in a multitude of deities. They imagined various forces controlling this world much like modern man does today.
