90- The Difference between Money and Honor
Kesef [money/silver] comes from the lower one, who Kosef [yearns] and exerts to obtain what he wants. Honor does not depend on the lower one. Rather, it comes from outside of him, as in our world, when people understand that they should respect him.
Hence, once a person has money, it is time to work for honor.
When one begins to yearn for the nearness of the Creator, that the Creator will bring him closer, although he is repeatedly rejected by the Creator, he should believe that all the disturbances come from the Creator, and yet he does not rest, like a child asking something of his father.
Likewise, when a person yearns for the Creator, although he is ejected, every time he stands up after his fall, he begins to pray once more to be brought closer.
Afterward, the Creator gives him the honor, which settles a Kli [vessel] of Kesef [silver/money]. That is, the Creator gives him the light of Torah, for “The Lord’s candle is man’s soul.”
It follows that Kesef is an awakening from below, and honor is an awakening from above.
