330- Lowliness
One should see one’s own lowliness, since there are many flavors in it. Lowliness is mainly to see the truth that his own benefit is more important to him than the benefit of the Creator. In other words, a person cannot see that which is outside his own benefit.
Hence, when he does something and does not see how he will derive self-benefit from this act, he cannot do it. Thus, there is no greater lowliness than this. This is “They are as beasts.” This is the whole matter of the recognition of evil. However, there are two matters about it, in mind and in heart.
