The Place of Your Heart's Desires
Is the study of
the wisdom of Kabbalah like the study of other wisdoms?
It is written that "a man only
learns where his heart desires." This means that there is no demand for
any path of learning; one doesn't need to study a certain amount of materials,
to memorize particular materials, or repeat things several times. And certainly
there is no need for tests of knowledge. Each person studies according to this
way. We are speaking here of the most internal thing there is. Each person
learns according to his soul.

Idolatry
What is the
meaning of building "a sculpture" or "an image"? What is
"idolatry" according to the wisdom of Kabbalah?
Everything we learn, except the wisdom
of Kabbalah, tells us about what happens here in this world. And for this, we
have imagination, power of thought, habits, and previous learning through which
we can describe these phenomena and learn about them by being able to build
their correct patterns in us.
In contrast to this, when we read books
of Kabbalah, we can't at all correctly imagine to ourselves what is being
spoken about. And if we imagine something, then the image, from the beginning,
is a complete lie. This is so since the
spiritual world is completely different with different attributes, different
vessels, completely new understanding and feeling with no connection at all to
anything parallel in this world, nothing. Thus, when we describe something from
the spiritual world while we are not there, it is called building "a
sculpture" or "an image," "idolatry."
