Daily Kabbalah Tip
Advice in the daily Kabbalah lesson is recommended, practical tasks for advancing spiritually
Faith Above Reason
What covenant should there be between me and the group so that I will be able to follow them at a time of a descent?
As we learn from Rabash's article called "Brit (Covenant)," we need to go above reason. Although this, at times, goes against our intellect, we need to carry out the instructions of the Kabbalists just like soldiers who follow commands.
Our mind can only serve the ego, and if I want to approach bestowal, spirituality, I need other thoughts. For this I need a head that is outside of me, like a teacher, society, or the Creator. During an ascent, when I am receiving some sort of awakening from Above, I need it less, but during a descent, I can't advance if I don't have this external mind.
I need to deliver myself in advance to the society while I am still in the ascent; I need to bind myself in an absolute fashion to the society, so that during the descent the connection between us will enable me to follow them with my eyes shut even though my mind opposes. This connection between us is called a Brit (Covenant), and when this covenant between us is strong enough, I can rise above myself during the descent and follow the group. This is called faith above reason.
