How do I know that the person standing before me is a true Kabbalist?

You never know if the person in front of you is a true Kabbalist, not by any mental examination. Even if there are two true Kabbalists in front of each other, one can conceal himself so that the other wouldn't know. You do not have tools with which to check spirituality.

It is written "No man can learn but as his heart desires." Each person should reach a complete frankness with himself, without influence or external opinions, and listen to his heart, as the heart is our only tool for testing. Is your heart ready to follow this person? Do you not have to make yourself smaller in front of him? There could be things you disagree with concerning this person, such as behaviors, learning method, etc., but ask yourself whether you agree with the principles by which he operates. Check with your heart: Do you trust this person? Trusting him means to go beyond your mind and accept the fact that he is great in spirituality and knows what he is talking about.
