The coronavirus does not necessarily have to be a bad thing. Everything in life can be used for good when we change our attitude. Perhaps, the coronavirus is presenting us with an opportunity to connect in a new way.
The beehive of human existence is settling down. Meetings are being cancelled. Planes and cruise ships are grounded. People are working from home. If we open our hearts and our minds, perhaps we can see the positive potential in these circumstances.
What good is all this buzzing around doing anyways? We seem to be going nowhere, collectively, in a hurry. If we disconnect from our fear of uncertainty in life, maybe we could put aside the human “doing” mode for a while and enjoy human “being.”
What is driving all this doing-ness, you may find yourself wondering? It is our drive to attain pleasure and avoid pain that drives us. This drive has reached destructive levels and divided us from one another. It blinds us from the truth that the most pleasurable thing in life is to connect with fellow human beings in mutual love and care.
So, stay home. Feel your body. Hug your partner. Kiss your child. Say hello to your neighbour (no hand shaking!). Breathe. Be.
